Girls Connect is a community-based initiative based on the Gold Coast, designed specifically for girls and young women with disabilities. At Girls Connect, we create safe, inclusive, and empowering spaces where participants can build genuine friendships, learn life skills, explore their interests, and most importantly just be themselves.

We know that no two journeys are the same, and that’s why we offer a variety of tailored social groups, peer support programs, and life skills workshops that reflect the diverse needs of our participants. Our group sizes are small and supportive, allowing each girl to feel heard, seen, and valued.

Our programs include fun, engaging activities like creative arts, cooking, pamper sessions, self-care nights, games, outings, and themed events. We also run practical workshops on confidence, communication, relationships, personal care, and independent living skills.

Our neurodiversity-affirming approach means we celebrate differences and support each girl in ways that honour her unique strengths, interests, and sensory needs.

At Girls Connect, we don’t just offer programs, we are building a community. We believe every girl deserves a place where she feels connected, confident, and uplifted. If you’re looking for a space where your daughter, sister, or participant can thrive socially and emotionally, we’d love to welcome you to the Girls Connect family.

Approach to supporting autistic individuals:

Girls Connect approaches autism as a natural form of human diversity and creates environments where autistic girls feel safe, respected, and empowered to be themselves. Our supports are fully neurodiversity-affirming, we prioritise flexible participation, predictable routines, strengths-based activities, and communication that reduces overwhelm and builds confidence.

We support each girl’s authentic identity by encouraging self-expression, celebrating individuality, and never expecting masking. Sensory needs are accommodated through quiet spaces, fidgets, movement breaks, environmental adjustments, and honouring each person’s preferred way of engaging.

Every decision we make is guided by one question: How can we make this experience feel safe, affirming, and empowering for her?
