Curious Me is an award-winning play-based service dedicated to providing high-quality, inclusive, and neurodiversity-affirming experiences for children across Southeast Queensland.

Founded in 2018 by sisters Kaycee and Angie, Curious Me offers sensory-rich, nature-based experiences and loose parts play through weekly play sessions, community events, private bookings, kindy and OSHC incursions, and professional development training for educators.

At the heart of Curious Me is a belief that every child, regardless of ability, diagnosis, or background, deserves the right to play freely and authentically. Our sessions are designed to be low-demand, child-led, and responsive to individual needs, making them particularly supportive for Autistic children, those with ADHD, sensory processing or other developmental differences. We provide a thoughtfully curated environment, allowing each child to explore at their own pace without pressure or expectation.

We prioritise consent, offer sensory-friendly alternatives, and ensure our Playworkers are trained to recognise and respect each child’s unique communication and regulation needs. Many of our resources are handmade, eco-conscious, and open-ended, promoting creativity, confidence, and self-directed exploration.

Whether through potion play, nature immersion, loose parts or our accessible play packs, Curious Me creates inclusive, meaningful experiences where all children are seen, valued, and celebrated—just as they are.

Approach to supporting autistic individuals:

At Curious Me, we are neurodivergent mothers of neurodivergent children first, which means we don’t just say we understand — we live it and breathe it alongside you. This lived experience shapes everything we do, from how we design our environments to how we connect with children and families.

Our approach centres on connection, regulation and autonomy. We intentionally create spaces that reduce demands and sensory overwhelm, allowing children to lead their play and engage on their own terms. Playworkers model curiosity over correction, co-regulation over compliance and use neuro-affirming language and practice to foster genuine belonging and trust.

Curious Me is absolutely fantastic! The sessions have been incredibly valuable for my daughter - not only does she get to participate, but she also benefits so much from observing the older children. It’s amazing to see how thoughtfully the environment is set up to support learning in so many different ways. The team at Curious Me is more than just play-based educators; they are a strong community voice and a genuine support system. They create a safe, equal, and inclusive space where vulnerable families can feel welcomed and understood. Their compassion and dedication truly shine through. We’ve gained so much value not only from the sessions themselves but also from the connections they’ve helped us make with service providers. These supports have been instrumental in our child’s growth, and we are so grateful. I cannot recommend Curious Me highly enough!

My 4yr old and 7yr old had the best time at Curious Me! The freedom to explore, be creative, get messy and just playing hard for hours was so rewarding to see. We loved it and will definitely be back. Highly recommend.
