We’re a Sunshine Coast Hinterland speech therapy service that empowers families with warm, family-centred, child-led care. Our approach fosters growth, joy and self-learning, ensuring every child’s voice is valued. We provide personalised support in the environments that matter most – at our welcoming clinic space, in your home, or out in the community – wherever communication happens (hint: that’s everywhere!)

Hello Sunshine Speech Therapy believes in making children’s speech pathology journeys engaging and enjoyable.

  • CONNECTION-FIRST We use responsive, child-led strategies to support regulation, strengthen relationships, and create a space where connection comes first.
  • PLAY WITH PURPOSE We follow each child’s interests to create playful, sensory-rich and movement-based opportunities for connection and communication.
  • REAL-WORLD LEARNING From parks to playrooms, we focus on practical, everyday communication skills — supporting families to build connection and confidence across home, community and beyond.

Who we support:

  • SPEECH AND LANGUAGE: Support for speech sound production, vocabulary, sentence-building, and understanding – helping your child communicate clearly and confidently.
  • NEURODIVERGENT SUPPORT: Respectful, neuro-affirming therapy for autistic children, ADHDers, PDA profiles, and other neurodivergent presentations.
  • AAC USERS & GESTALT LANGUAGE PROCESSING: Support for Gestalt Language Processors using multi-modal communication and parent coaching supports, as well as a range of AAC users, including both low- and high-tech communication systems.
  • BEHAVIOUR & REGULATION: Looking beneath the behaviour – supporting regulation and connection through communication supports.
  • FEELINGS & EMOTIONS: We support emotional literacy through a communication lens — helping children recognise their feelings, understand how emotions are expressed, and develop the vocabulary to talk about them. This supports self-expression and builds stronger connections with others.
  • COMPLEX PRESENTATIONS: Support for children with more complex needs, including: – Mental health challenges and anxiety – Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) – Cerebral Palsy and other neurological conditions – Genetic conditions such as Down syndrome, 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, and Fragile X syndrome. – Rare or undiagnosed genetic conditions or developmental differences

We also work with children who haven’t found success with other therapists, offering a flexible, relationship-first approach that meets them where they are.

Approach

At Hello Sunshine Speech Therapy, we see autism as a natural and valuable part of human diversity. Our approach is grounded in respect, collaboration, and a deep understanding that each autistic person has unique strengths, preferences, and needs. We actively challenge outdated models of therapy and instead focus on creating supportive, meaningful, and respectful experiences for the children and families we work with.

We provide play-based, child-led therapy that honours autonomy, communication preferences, and the right to say no. We focus on connection and regulation first, and work collaboratively with families to set goals that are functional, respectful, and aligned with the child’s values and needs - not imposed expectations. Our therapists are trained in neurodiversity-affirming practices, and we continually reflect on and evolve our approach to ensure we're supporting, and not suppressing, authentic communication and development.

We embrace stimming, special interests, and all forms of communication as valid and important. Sessions are flexible and responsive - children are free to move, fidget, pause, or redirect as needed. We adjust our language, environment, and approach to support each individual’s comfort and sensory preferences, whether that’s through lighting, volume, pace, or play materials. We love to support children to explore their identify and their neurodivergent identity, and give them the words to express this and advocate for their needs. Above all, we aim to create spaces where autistic children feel safe to be themselves, without judgment or pressure to mask.
