Nest & Nurture Play Therapy is a child-centred service dedicated to supporting children’s emotional, social, and developmental well-being through the healing power of play. We offer evidence-based play therapy services for children aged 3–12, with a particular focus on supporting neurodivergent children, including those on the autism spectrum.

Our approach uses integrative play therapy principles, including directive and non-directive modalities, to support children in their individual needs. We strive to honour every child’s unique way of communicating, processing experiences, and building relationships. Through play, children are able to express themselves freely, explore challenges in a safe and supported way, strengthen emotional regulation skills, and build confidence and resilience. We believe that children grow best when they feel understood, accepted, and empowered, and our work reflects this at every stage.

Services include individual play therapy sessions, parent support and consultation, school observations when clinically appropriate, and collaborative work with families, educators, and health professionals. We recognise the important role that caregivers play in a child’s progress and ensure parents feel guided, informed, and part of the therapeutic process.

At Nest & Nurture, we are committed to offering compassionate, neuroaffirming, relationship-based support that meets each child exactly where they are. Our goal is to create a nurturing space where children can feel safe to explore, grow, and thrive.

Approach to supporting autistic individuals:

At Nest & Nurture Play Therapy, we see autism as a natural and valuable part of human diversity. We focus on understanding the whole child, their strengths, interests, communication style, and how they experience the world, rather than trying to change who they are. We believe every child deserves to feel accepted, respected, and supported to be their authentic self.

Our approach is child-led, flexible, and relationship-focused. In sessions, children are free to play, explore, communicate, and regulate in ways that feel natural to them. We use their lead and strengths as starting points for connection and growth. We work alongside children and families to set goals that support wellbeing, emotional safety, and confidence.
