Kinleap is a family-owned paediatric Occupational Therapy provider in Birtinya, Sunshine Coast, supporting children aged 0–14 and their families. We specialise in early intervention and neurodevelopment to support children in building motor skills, emotional regulation, cognitive and executive functioning, sensory processing and social and play skills. We provide high-quality, family-centred OT services to children across Birtinya, Kawana, Caloundra, Mooloolaba, and surrounding Sunshine Coast areas. At Kinleap, we believe little legs can make large leaps.

Our play-based therapy approach is designed to honour each child’s natural way of exploring and learning. Grounded in neurodevelopmental principles and powered by play, our sessions focus on functional, real-world skill development, including motor coordination, sensory processing, emotional regulation, attention, social engagement, and school readiness, always tailored to each child’s strengths, interests and individual neurotype.

We are passionate about professional development and continued education, here are a few skills we have and ways we maintain the most up to date knowledge:

  • Regular clinical supervision with a published, and Sensory Integration certified OT
  • Experienced in supporting sensory processing, applying a range of evidence-based approaches, including Ayres’ Clinical Observations and structured interventions supporting processing and modulation.
  • Skilled in embedding attachment and trauma-informed principles across all services, ensuring safety, trust, and co-regulation are at the core of every session.
  • Experienced in completing NDIS functional capacity assessments and preparing comprehensive reports, with advanced clinical reasoning aligned with NDIS standards.

Kinleap provides a truly family-centred approach. We work side-by-side with parents and caregivers, offering compassionate guidance, practical education, and simple strategies that can be used at home, school, and in the community. Whether a child is on step one of a small, big or ongoing journey, we help families step back, assess, side-step if needed, and plan the next steps to land the big leaps.

We offer flexible appointment options, neuroaffirming practice, comprehensive assessments, individual, group, and intensive therapy, home programs, and parent coaching. At Kinleap we are Kind, Clever & Together, supporting children to develop confidence, capacity, and skills that last.Regular clinical supervision with a published and sensory integration certified OT

Approach to supporting autistic individuals:

At Kinleap, we understand autism as a natural and valid neurotype. We recognise that every autistic child has a unique way of thinking, learning, communicating, and experiencing the world. Our role is not to “fix” or change who they are, but to support their development, confidence, and wellbeing in ways that honour their identity. We focus on understanding each child’s strengths, interests, sensory profile, and communication style so that therapy feels safe, predictable, and empowering.

In practice, our therapy is fully neuroaffirming. We prioritise consent-based, child-led engagement and work at the child’s pace. We do not use compliance-based approaches; instead, we support regulation, connection, autonomy, and self-advocacy. Our sessions incorporate sensory accommodations, co-regulation, alternatives to spoken communication, and collaborative goal-setting that includes the child’s voice wherever possible.

We create environments that enable children with autism to express themselves authentically. Children are free to move, stim, take breaks, and communicate in ways that feel natural to them. We adapt the environment, not the child, to support sensory comfort, using tools such as low-stimulation spaces, movement options, proprioceptive supports, deep-pressure equipment, and flexible seating. We value each child’s unique interests and weave them meaningfully into therapy to enhance engagement and joy.

Kinleap is kind in how we understand each child, clever in the supports we provide, and together in every step we take with families to create environments where children can thrive. We partner with families to deepen their understanding of their child’s neurotype and to support their sens

At KinLeap, we’re Kind, Clever, and Together, helping little legs take large leaps every day.
