Ipsarty is Queensland’s first purpose built Arts Therapy clinic, specifically designed to cater to sensory needs.

Using the arts, we are able to move away from traditional talk therapy approaches and focus on individualised expression. We are university qualified Expressive Arts Therapists, who are also neurodivergent. We use all modes of creating; visual arts, drama, play, symbols, music, movement, digital art, gaming to flexibly meet the needs of each person.

We offer services to children, teens and adults, but our passion is to provide family unit focused care… and look after the whole family, by working alongside parents to ensure the family ecosystem is nourished and supported.

Approach

We are a team of neurodivergent therapists and advocates. Our Warana studio was designed to meet the sensory needs of fellow neurodivergent souls and those who have experienced trauma. It is a safe haven for people to come as they are without the expectations to fit in a box; "to do better and be better".

We do not fix here. We allow space for people to access what they need in that moment, explore their sense of self and support them in their way of being in this world and whatever way they choose to go forward.

It's an opportunity to be real and be heard. Ipsarty will nurture, encourage and guide you in alllllll the feels. But most importantly... facilitate self exploration and understanding, which is where the magic is.

I have had the pleasure of having a few Art Therapy sessions with Mel at Ipsarty over the last 6 months. It’s amazing how Mel can analyse a painting, drawing or just some scribbles that really digs deep into your subconscious thoughts. I have attended a few one on one sessions and also a group session with Mel and I’ve found each session so valuable in working out where and what my blockages are and what parts of myself I need to focus on and work on more. Each artwork I’ve created with Mel is not a masterpiece and by no means would I be displaying them for all to see. Rather the work of art is a personal reminder to me of what I discovered about myself in that session, and what I need to work on within myself. I highly recommend Mel, Ipsarty and adding Art Therapy session to your self-development journey.

The service provided by the team at Ipsarty is like nothing you'll experience elsewhere. Mel and team help you delve through all the jumbled emotions to get to the heart of what you're experiencing. I've experienced first hand the amazing work done by Mel and it truly helped me deal with issues that I had buried deep inside me. I'm in a much better place emotionally and mentally thanks to Ipsarty. And through the group sessions I've meet some amazing women on similar journeys and formed life long friendships. Art therapy works wonders.

I cannot thank Mel at Ipsarty Art Therapy enough for how she has helped Miss 9 change so positively since beginning to see her in June! Even others have noticed the changes and I have to put it down to Mel. Intact I was so impressed at the difference Mel has made to Miss 9's life that I joined the Abstract Mama course. I have seen more than a few counsellors in my life due to factors I won't discuss, and Mel has brought out the person I wanted to be but was too afraid to be. I have been able to confeont and deal with past trauma that I buried because I couldn't cope yet it still was having an effect on me without realising it! Now? I am coping and more importantly thriving just like my daughter! I have recommended Ipsarty Art Therapy to many people in person and will continue to do so because I believe in her and her therapy sessions.

Mel is super wonderful and I have no issue highly recommending her services. Standard counselling/therapy wasn't a good fit for me which felt disappointing, given that's what was typically offered. Finding Mel and Ipsarty Art Therapy has changed the way I approach therapy for myself, and changed the way I view healing in general. Five Stars.

What a valuable experience Mel and her team provide for my children. In a world where being Neurodivergent can be challenging we are made to feel right at home, having a space to express their challenges, strengths and truly embrace themselves. Thank you
