Supporting children and adults with ASD through our quality services and programs

Our Mission

We help kids become confident and capable. Inspired by Clint’s shy childhood and Aimee’s struggles with confidence and making friends, we love seeing kids grow, reach new goals, and step out of their comfort zones. Our goal is to help kids develop the skills and confidence to build strong friendships and positively impact society, leading to happier childhoods and adulthoods.

How We Can Help Your Child & Your Family

We appreciate the struggles that come with experiencing neuro-developmental challenges and other forms of disability; the strain on relationships, schooling and learning difficulties, energy and mood fluctuations, and general health and well-being issues.

We’re a neuro-affirming team providing specialised and unique services and events for children, adults and families with low-level Neurodevelopmental/Autism Spectrum Disorder challenges to help them reach their true physical and emotional capability, build self-esteem and confidence, reduce likelihood of injuries and to live a more fulfilling and balanced life.

The physical and emotional benefits gained go beyond just what the client experiences; family members, their friends, teachers and the rest of the their inner and outer circles of connections can benefit from a happier and healthier person!

Training/Certification of note: Clint – Confidence Coach is a L1 MovNat Trainer and Personal Trainer with years of experience working with ASD children and adults. Our Support Workers are trained in various areas including Autism, ADHD and PDA to name a few. More information on training and experience of our team is available on our website

Approach to supporting autistic individuals:

Autism & Beyond Australia is a Sunshine Coast-based organization dedicated to supporting neurodivergent children and teens, along with their families. We specialize in providing a neuro-affirming environment that helps young people build confidence, develop real-world life skills, and form meaningful connections. Our mission, inspired by our founder's personal experiences with shyness and confidence struggles, is to empower neurodivergent individuals to become confident, capable, and integral members of society. We understand the unique challenges faced by individuals with neurodevelopmental differences like ASD and ADHD, as well as the strain on family relationships, schooling, and overall well-being.

Our services are designed for children and teens who benefit from positive mentoring and extra encouragement, rather than intensive behavioral or high-level personal care support. We offer a range of specialized services, including support work and life skills mentoring, confidence coaching, and unique 1:1 and group fishing programs. Our fishing programs, in particular, provide a fun and low-pressure setting where young people can learn new skills, build resilience, and step outside of their comfort zones. We work closely with families, with or without NDIS funding, and welcome both self-managed and plan-managed participants. At Autism & Beyond Australia, we believe in a holistic approach that extends beyond the individual, positively impacting their families, friends, teachers, and wider community. Our ultimate goal is to help every young person we work with lead a more fulfilling and balanced life.

How We Understand and Approach Autism ~

At Autism & Beyond Australia, we embrace a neurodiversity-affirming approach. We view autism not as a disorder to be cured or fixed, but as a natural and valid variation of the human brain. We recognize that every autistic individual has a unique way of thinking, communicating, and interacting with the world. Our approach is based on the principle that these differences are a core part of a person's identity and can be a source of unique strengths and perspectives. We move away from deficit-based models and instead focus on celebrating individual strengths and supporting each person to thrive on their own terms.

Neurodiversity-Affirming Services in Practice ~

In practical terms, our services are designed to be respectful, validating, and empowering. Our team is trained to listen to and respect the preferences of our clients, always seeking their assent and collaboration in goal-setting. For instance, in our mentoring and coaching sessions, the client's interests and passions are at the heart of the work. If a young person is passionate about a specific topic, we use it as a tool to engage them and build skills, rather than trying to force them into neurotypical social norms. We prioritize building a trusting, mentor-like relationship that focuses on the individual's happiness and well-being. We use positive reinforcement and a calm, patient, and fun approach that reduces anxiety and promotes a safe space for growth.

Supporting Authentic Identity and Sensory Needs ~

We actively support autistic individuals to express their identity authentically and accommodate their individual sensory needs. We don't require or expect eye contact, and we validate and respect all forms of communication, including non-verbal cues. Our sessions are flexible and adaptable, allowing for sensory breaks and adjustments to the environment to ensure our clients feel comfortable and safe. We help clients understand their own sensory profiles and teach them strategies to manage sensory input in a way that works for them. By providing a judgment-free space, we encourage clients to "unmask" and be their true selves. This approach fosters a strong sense of self-worth and belonging, helping them realize that they are not alone and that their way of being is not abnormal—it is simply a different, valid normal. ????????
