At Happy Learners Therapy Services, we provide occupational therapy that celebrates neurodiversity and supports autistic children and teens in a way that is strengths-based, affirming, and truly individualised. We recognise that every child processes and engages with the world in their own unique way, and our goal is to support participation, confidence, and well-being – without trying to ‘fix’ or change who they are.

Our highly trained team of paediatric OTs brings a wealth of experience in sensory processing, emotional regulation, motor development, and executive functioning, as well as additional training in DIR Floortime, sensory integration, and other evidence-based approaches. We are committed to ongoing learning in neurodiversity-affirming practices to ensure our support is relevant, respectful, and aligned with each child’s needs.

Our therapy is family-centred and child-led, meaning we work alongside parents, caregivers, and educators to create strategies that support the child in their everyday environments. Parent coaching is a key part of our approach; we empower families with tools and knowledge so they can confidently support their child outside of therapy sessions.

We offer flexible OT services, including clinic-based, mobile (home and school), and telehealth sessions, to meet families where they feel most comfortable. Whether the focus is sensory processing, daily living skills, self-regulation, school readiness, or social engagement, we tailor therapy to build on the child’s strengths, interests, and intrinsic motivation.

At Happy Learners, we are here to support, empower, and celebrate autistic children and their families – helping them thrive in the way that works best for them.

Approach

At Happy Learners Therapy Services, we understand autism as a unique way of experiencing and engaging with the world, and we approach every child and family with respect, empathy, and a strengths-based perspective. In practice, this means our occupational therapy services are grounded in neurodiversity-affirming principles, focusing on supporting each child’s individual goals, preferences, and abilities rather than trying to “fix” or change who they are.

We actively create safe and supportive environments where autistic children are encouraged to express their identity authentically, whether through play, communication, or interests, and we adapt our approaches to accommodate sensory needs—offering flexible spaces, tools, and strategies that help children feel regulated, comfortable, and empowered in their therapy journey.
