Seeds of Grace – Growing hearts and minds through the power of play

My approach to play therapy has been shaped by both professional experience and personal journey. With 15 years in primary education and as a parent navigating the complex landscape of developmental differences and neurodiversity in my own family, I understand first-hand the importance of creating a space where every child is welcomed exactly as they are. With dual Master’s degrees in Primary Education and Play Therapy, I blend academic knowledge with real-world understanding to meet each child where they naturally thrive. At Seeds of Grace, I believe that play opens doors to expression that words sometimes cannot. The playroom becomes a place where children communicate in their own natural language, whether through art, movement, storytelling, or simply being. This approach honours each child’s individual way of experiencing and engaging with the world around them. My practice centres on creating a gentle, accepting environment where children can explore at their own pace. I recognize that meaningful support extends beyond our sessions together, which is why I work closely with families and support networks to create consistency across all areas of a child’s life. When children enter the playroom, they discover a place where their uniqueness is not just accommodated but valued. Here, differences in how children learn, communicate, and connect become strengths to build upon rather than challenges to overcome. I welcome the opportunity to support your child’s journey toward greater self-understanding, emotional expression, and connection. Services Offered:

Approach

Approach: As a play therapist my approach centres on meeting each child exactly where they are, focusing on their unique strengths, perspectives, and needs while honouring their individual way of being in the world. A diagnosis isn't the first piece of information I need or want about a child - I'm more interested in understanding who they are as a unique individual, what brings them joy, and how they naturally express themselves.

Neurodiversity-Affirming Practice: Rather than focusing on changing behaviours, my practice celebrates each child's way of engaging with the world around them as natural variations in human experience. I work with families to build on their child's existing strengths and interests, using these as pathways for growth and self-expression. Sessions are designed around the child's individual needs and preferences, allowing them to engage authentically without pressure to be anyone other than themselves.

Through play therapy's natural, child-led approach, children can communicate and process experiences in ways that feel safe and genuine to them. I collaborate closely with families to understand their child's unique way of experiencing the world and ensure therapeutic goals align with supporting the child's authentic self.

Supporting Authentic Expression and Individual Needs: My therapy space is designed to welcome all children exactly as they are. I embrace each child's individual ways of moving, communicating, and engaging with their environment as important parts of who they are. Sessions are flexible and can be adapted to honour whatever each child needs to feel comfortable and authentic (shorter times, reduced lighting, specific textures or toys used, use of headphones, etc).

I work with families to understand and support their child's individual needs, viewing these as natural aspects of their child's unique way of being rather than things to be fixed or changed.
