As a leading specialist nursing service within Queensland and beyond, we are staffed by clinical nurse consultants and stomal therapists. Children’s Nursing Queensland offers a range of specialist nursing services that aim to keep patients who are not sick, out of the hospital system and supported within their communities.

Since launching in 2022, our service has continued to grow and expand, and we are pleased to be able to offer services including:

  • Comprehensive continence assessments, nursing assessments, and nursing care plans.
  • Tube feeding supports for nasogastric tubes, gastrostomies, PEGs and jejunostomies.
  • Continence supports for patients with complex disabilities, bowel and bladder stomas, MACE’s/Mitrofanoff’s/Chait’s, and catheter use.
  • Educational workshops to early learning centres, schools, and support workers, to facilitate the safe care of patients with complex disabilities and health care needs.
  • Specialist wound care supports.
  • Pre and post operative education and support.

Approach

Our continence assessments are comprehensive, and consider mobility, communication, cognition, diet, sleep, and disabilities' impact on continence.
