Not your average “eat this, not that” dietitian.

Jacinta Sherlock (she/they) is the compassionately provocative dietitian behind Dietetics Done Differently. With 10+ years working across youth, adult, and forensic mental health settings, Jacinta has traded the calorie-counting clipboard for something far more useful: genuine curiosity about why eating happens the way it does.

Our approach as taking a step back and looking at the big picture of the landscape shaping your relationship with food. Because context is everything, and no two nervous systems (or eating patterns) are the same. Clients regularly say, “you’ve hit the nail on the head”, high praise for a session built on compassion, not judgement.

The details
•      Locations: Kew, Northcote & Coburg, Victoria (plus online consults and home visits)

•      Credentials: Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD), Credentialed Eating Disorder Dietitian, Master of Dietetic Practice

•      Pricing: Sliding scale available for those not eligible under EPC/EDMP/NDIS, because equitable access matters

Approach to supporting autistic individuals

Why the autism community loves working with Jacinta:

•      Lived experienced led, trauma-informed and integrated, neurodiversity-affirming, and LGBTIQA+ affirming as standard, not an add-on

•      Genuine experience supporting autistic and neurodivergent people with meal and snack planning, sensory-awareness eating, nervous system regulation, building self-trust and confidence around food, without the “just eat more vegetables” script

•      No diet culture, no weight-focused nonsense, just practical, sustainable strategies grounded in the listening, compassion, evidenced informed nutrition science, ACT, and mindfulness

•      Comfortable working with NDIS participants and support coordinators, with dietetics funded under relevant NDIS line items

•      A safe space for people who’ve been let down by “one-size-fits-all” health advice before

“It’s not just about meal planning, it’s about working together to understand the underlying drivers of eating behaviour, and building new skills along the way that matter to you.”
