Happiness Hangout – Neurodivergent-Friendly Social Space & Wellbeing Hub

Happiness Hangout is a welcoming, neuro-affirming space designed to support autistic and neurodivergent teens and young adults through connection, creativity, and community.

We run a range of in-person sessions and workshops focused on building emotional resilience, improving social confidence, and creating safe opportunities for authentic self-expression. From low-pressure hangouts and interest-based groups to guided wellbeing activities, our programs are built around inclusion, psychological safety, and positive mental health.

Approach to supporting autistic individuals

Our Motto: Be yourself | Stronger together | Come as you are.

At Happiness Hangout, we provide services in ways that recognise and respect autism and neurodivergence as natural variations of human experience rather than deficits to be “fixed.” Our focus is on creating environments where autistic individuals feel safe, understood, and able to participate in ways that suit their needs and preferences. We do this by creating predictable and low-pressure environments, designing sensory-considerate spaces, respecting different communication styles Interest-led activities, supporting autonomy and consent, building belonging rather than compliance and having an inclusive community culture. We have different sized sessions to allow for differences in experience and requirements.

Happiness Hangouts is such an amazing venue, made even better by Wayne the host! We used the space for our End of Year event and our attendees loved it. Conviniently located in Rocklea, the space is versatile and can be used by all age groups as it features a projector, racing sim, dancing floor, recording studio and more. Will definitely be using the venue again not only because of the amenities but because Wayne really cares about the community and puts in a lot of effort to make sure that it is a conducive environment for everyone

This is an unique experience for those that feel they don't fit, well organised and great staff. Loads of new experiences something for everyone

What an amazing place to "hangout". So many activities to keep us and the kids entertained and occupied. From craft to board games, music and table tennis. We will definitely be back and bring all our friends. Thanks for having us.
