Hi I’m Kate, a Certified Practicing Nutritionist and multiply neurodivergent woman.
I have a Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition and Dietetic Medicine) and a Bachelor of Nursing/Emergency Health (Paramedics).
I am late diagnosed autistic, ADHD, OCD and I have ARFID.
I worked as a registered nurse for nine years in Australian public hospitals.
I truly believe that individuals are the experts on themselves (or parents and children are the expert on the child).
I am here to bring in my lived experience with nutrition and health challenges, and my professional knowledge.
I love food and food as medicine but I also still struggle with my nutrition.
As much as safe foods are important as well as calm eating environments, I’m also deeply interested in what is going in the other 23 hours in a day for my clients.
I have found for myself that when food is hard, I need to simply rely on my safe foods and expand my capacity/window of tolerance in other ways before I change anything when it comes to food.
I believe regulation at mealtimes comes from trying to increase regulation throughout the rest of the day and minimise those things that dysregulate us.
