Specialist Behaviour Support

NDIS Positive Behaviour Support is an evidence-based approach designed to enhance the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. It focuses on understanding the reasons behind certain behaviours and developing tailored strategies to meet their needs effectively. This may include teaching new skills, modifying the environment, and providing support to caregivers. The ultimate goal is to promote dignity,, and a better overall experience for each individual.

Sunshine Behaviour Support utilises a neuro-affirming, person-centred approach by prioritising the individual needs and preferences of each client, whether they are children, teenagers, or adults. This method involves actively listening, involving clients and their families in decision-making and giving them choices about daily activities, environments, goal setting, and their support; ensuring that their voices are heard and respected in the support process. Sunshine Behaviour Support fosters a more effective and meaningful connection by tailoring interventions and strategies to align with each person’s unique goals and values. This commitment to personalised care enhances the quality of support and promotes greater independence and empowerment for clients.

Approach

???? Sunshine Behaviour Support

At Sunshine Behaviour Support, we believe that every individual deserves to thrive in an environment that respects their identity, autonomy, and unique strengths. Our evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) services are designed to improve quality of life by understanding behaviour as communication, and by co-creating tailored strategies that meet each person's individual needs.

???? Neurodiversity-Affirming and Autism-Informed

We take a strengths-based, neuro-affirming approach to autism that values authentic self-expression, choice, and collaboration. Our support services are built around the principle that autistic individuals should be empowered—not conditioned—to live and express themselves freely.

- Listening First: We prioritise the voices of our clients and their families, offering choice in daily routines, goal-setting, and environmental preferences.
- Respecting Identity: Our person-centred practice fosters environments where autistic individuals feel seen, heard, and safe to express their identity.
- Tailored Sensory Support: From modifying environments to understanding sensory preferences, we ensure our strategies are compassionate, inclusive, and responsive to sensory needs.

???? Early Childhood Intervention

We offer specialised support for children under 9 with developmental delay or disability. Through collaboration with families, educators, and community partners, we help nurture children’s growth in natural settings.

Support areas include:

- Communication and language development
- Co-regulation and emotional wellbeing
- Safety and independence
- Social connections and play skills
- Daily routines and school readiness

❤️ Our Commitment

Whether we’re working with young children, teenagers, or adults, our goal is to promote dignity, independence, and wellbeing. By integrating trauma-informed principles with PBS and neurodiversity-affirming practices, Sunshine Behaviour Support creates meaningful, personalised pathways for growth and empowerment.
