The Butterfly Effect offers Sunshine Coast families Play Therapy, Educational Therapy, Counselling and Child Parent Relationship Therapy, social groups, and holiday programs. We are a neuro-affirming practice, and our team consists of highly trained, qualified, and experienced professionals. We work hard to empower growth through learning, healing and play. We have locations in Sunshine Coast North (Noosaville) and Sunshine Coast Central (Currimundi).
Educational Therapy
A creative and individualised approach to support that identifies the underlying barriers of the learning struggle. We support learners of all ages to build independence, confidence, self-advocacy and understand their strengths and abilities. We do things differently! We offer innovative and creative responses to learning challenges – tailoring each session for the individual.
Counselling
Counselling for young people, families and adults. Support for those who are experiencing or have experienced stress, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss. Support for time management, workplace challenges, social and relationship counselling and conflict resolution. We specialise in Counselling for children, young adults and their families.
Play Therapy
Play Therapy is a powerful means of joining with the non-verbal capacities of children in order to engage and work therapeutically with them. It is a developmentally appropriate, evidence-based method of counselling younger clients. In Play Therapy, children can play out their inner and real life experiences in a way that builds insight and capacity. Play Therapy allows children to express, regulate, communicate and gain new insights and skills through a safe and nurturing therapeutic relationship.

10 months agoThe Butterfly Effect Sunshine Coast has been absolutely amazing in supporting my son, who has progressed in leaps and bounds thanks to Katrina and her entire team of dedicated therapists and counsellors. They truly go above and beyond in advocating for children through their innovative approaches, including play therapy, education therapy and Lego Club. The supportive staff have created a nurturing environment where children feel safe, understood and encouraged to grow. I am so grateful for the positive impact they've had on my son and our family. I highly recommend Katrina and her entire team to any parent or carer looking for holistic and caring support.

10 months agoWe have been clients of The Butterfly Effect Sunshine Coast for nearly 2 years. We were referred by our Health Professional. Our Child required educational therapy towards the end of Year 10 and we have continued right up to Year 12 Term 4 External Examinations. We highly recommend this business. It has helped our Child navigate the demands of Senior school through weekly/fortnightly zoom meetings. Ensuring our Child stayed on track with an individualised program and counselling. It gave us peace of mind that our child was supported in ways we as parents, could not always provide.
