At OKAY Therapy, we use a neuro-affirming, trauma-informed approach to empower children, young people and their families on the Sunshine Coast. Our Occupational Therapists work with individuals, families, schools and community organisations to strengthen participation and engagement in the everyday activities that matter most.

Support is always personalised. We collaborate to develop practical strategies, nurture relationships and adapt environments so children and young people can build confidence, independence, and wellbeing.

Whether it’s preparing for school, managing daily routines, developing social and emotional skills or creating supportive learning environments, we focus on solutions that fit each person’s unique needs.

By working side-by-side with families and educators, we aim to create calm, connected spaces where children feel understood and supported to thrive  – at home, at school and in their community.

Approach

At OKAY Therapy, we recognise autism as a natural part of human diversity. Every autistic person brings unique strengths, perspectives and ways of experiencing the world. Our role is to create environments and supports that honour their individuality and help them thrive.

We take a neuro-affirming and trauma-informed approach, which means we:
• Value autistic voices and lived experience
• Focus on strengths, not deficits
• Adapt environments, expectations and teaching approaches to reduce barriers
• Support regulation, communication and participation in ways that feel safe and meaningful
• Partner with families, educators, and communities to build understanding and inclusion

By focusing on acceptance and belonging, we help autistic children and young people grow in confidence, develop meaningful relationships and participate fully in learning, play and community life.
