DiscoAbility – 80s Theme (Saturday 30 May)
DiscoAbility is built a bit differently to a typical social event.
There’s no pressure to interact, no expectation to jump straight into anything, and no “right way” to be there. People can come in, get a feel for the room, and ease into it at their own pace.
Some end up dancing and chatting. Others stick to parallel play, just being in the space, enjoying the music, and getting comfortable over time. Both are completely fine.
The focus is on keeping the environment predictable, low pressure, and easy to step in and out of. That tends to be where people start to relax, and where things naturally build from.
We’re already seeing regulars recognise each other, get more comfortable, and in some cases build connections that continue outside the event, whether that’s online or in person.
Throughout the night I invite people to put their hand up if they’re open to meeting others with similar interests, whether that’s trading cards, gaming, Pokémon, or anything else. If you’ve got something you’re into and would like to chat with someone who shares it, feel free to come let me know.
My goal with these events is to help people find real mates that aren’t paid to be there
