We think kids and teens engage best in therapy when they are having fun. Hannah uses art therapy and play therapy in sessions to connect with kids and young people, to help them to regulate, and to engage in therapy in a positive and meaningful way. Sessions are always varied and adapted to suit the needs and interests of the young person. For example, clay work has great grounding qualities which are great for emotional regulation and expression, but it is also messy making it unsuitable for those who need to stay clean.
Hannah’s approach is best described as strength-based, child directed, and neurodiverse affirming. She provides a range of options of activities related to the child’s interests and goals, but gives the child choice over which activity they wish to engage with and how they wish engage with it. This empowers young people to participate in their therapy in the way that is comfortable and most helpful to them.
