Welcome to Our Neurodiversity-Affirming Practice

We provide personalised, compassionate, and evidence-based psychological care tailored to the needs of neurodivergent individuals. With both professional training and lived experience, we create a safe, inclusive space for people of all ages, genders, sexualities, and cultures.

Neurodiversity-Affirming (NDA) Services

We proudly offer neurodiversity-affirming services, working with you and/or your child to honour and celebrate your unique strengths and differences.

We believe in the principle of “Nothing about us without us” and are committed to ongoing learning and growth to ensure our practices reflect the needs and preferences of the neurodivergent community. Everyone experiences the world differently, so we’re happy to meet you where you are and communicate in your preferred style.

Comfort and Flexibility

You are welcome to make yourself at home during sessions. Wear comfortable clothing, bring fidgets, sit on the floor, or move around as needed. Come as you are, and know you are always accepted here. If you have any sensory needs, preferences, or “icks,” let us know—we will do our best to adjust and accommodate.

If there’s anything we can do to enhance your comfort, please let us know. We’re here to support you.

Approach

Our practice understands autism as a natural and valuable form of human diversity, not a deficit to be “fixed.” We recognise that autistic people have unique ways of experiencing, processing, and interacting with the world, and these differences can bring both strengths and challenges. Our approach is informed by current research, neurodiversity-affirming principles, and lived experience. We focus on fostering self-understanding, building on strengths, and supporting individuals to navigate environments that may not always be accessible or inclusive.

We design our services to be flexible, respectful, and collaborative. This means:
- Individualised communication – adapting our style to match the client’s preferred method (spoken, written, visual supports, or augmentative communication).
- Environment and session flexibility – clients can move around, use fidgets, take sensory breaks, or adjust the environment to suit their needs.
- Strength-based and collaborative goal-setting – working with clients (and their families/support networks when appropriate) to define what is meaningful and helpful for them.
- Inclusive practice – acknowledging intersectionality and ensuring that all services are accessible across age, gender, sexuality, and cultural identity.
- Ongoing learning – maintaining up-to-date professional development on autism research, lived experience perspectives, and best-practice supports.

We actively encourage autistic individuals to express themselves in ways that feel safe and authentic—whether that’s through language, behaviour, clothing, stimming, or special interests. We respect each person’s autonomy in self-identification and self-expression. Sensory needs are discussed openly from the outset, and adjustments are made wherever possible, such as:
- Modifying lighting, noise levels, or seating arrangements.
- Offering online, in-clinic, or outdoor sessions to suit preferences.
- Allowing movement, comfort items, or sensory tools in session.
- Being mindful of language and avoiding pathologising or deficit-focused descriptions.

We believe that by creating a safe, inclusive, and adaptable environment, we empower autistic people to participate fully and comfortably in their own care, and to thrive in the broader community.
