Scope supports neurodivergent individuals living with neurodevelopmental conditions.

Our goal is to deliver high-quality assessment and therapy services for clients across all stages of life. Our team of psychologists specialises in providing tailored solutions for adults, children, adolescents, older adults, and everyone in between.

Scope is a truly neuro-affirming practice. All of our practitioners and team members value lived experience and take the position of an ally in every interaction. Our services are strengths-based and built around the self-identified needs of our clients. We always aim to identify environmental change to support our clients without changing the individual. Our team includes ND and NT individuals and we can’t wait to meet you!

Approach

Our Work is Informed by Lived Experience - Scope understands that you’re the expert on your own life.

We Use the Social Model of Disability - Scope gives equal attention to your strengths and challenges.

We Adapt to Your Needs - Scope understands and respects your communication style and sensory needs.

When it comes to psychology, we know that one size doesn’t fit all. We understand this, and our practitioners adapt their therapy and assessment approaches to align with your individual experience. We consider your:

✔️ Communication style
Communication styles among autistic individuals can vary greatly. We are experienced in working with individuals who require more time to process and formulate their thoughts, and those who communicate without spoken language or use different modes of expression, such as augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

✔️ Sensory preferences
We are always mindful of your sensory preferences, and aim to provide a calm and sensory-friendly environment for you when you’re accessing services at Scope. We also deliver services for low-vision and hard of hearing individuals.

✔️ Executive functioning differences
We have built additional layers of support into our services to help with planning, organisation, and translation of new skills into everyday life.

✔️ Social and emotional processing
We provide a safe space where you can freely explore your emotions without judgement, and navigate social interactions that are meaningful to you.

We are passionate about providing the highest quality of care for autistic individuals. Our team receives regular training in neuro-affirming practices and has extensive experience working with a wide range of neurodevelopmental conditions. Our team includes a combination of neurodivergent and neurotypical professionals who value lived experience and take the position of an ally in every interaction. Our services are strengths-based and built around the self-identified needs of our clients. We always aim to identify environmental accommodations and adaptations to support our clients without changing the individual.

Our ND Advisory Board: To ensure our services are truly guided by the community we serve, Scope is establishing an ND Advisory Board. We believe in the principle of "Nothing About Us Without Us" and regularly consult individuals with a diverse range of neurodivergent lived experiences to provide advice and feedback on Scope's services, resources, and communications. We want these insights to directly shape how we operate and help us better meet the needs of our clients and the broader neurodivergent community.
